About
Well how can I sum myself into just a few short paragraphs? I will do my best
I graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Parks and Protected Area Management. My sole focus during my entire college career was to become a park ranger. I landed a job with the agency of my choice the following spring, and I’m excited to finally put all my training, education, and skills to work! I do love to hike, camp, bird watch, identify plants, and observe animal behavior (by animals I mean mostly deer, coyotes, birds, and people).
I also love to bake, play video games, read, and listen to music. I love to take pictures and I’m constantly learning about my camera. I’m a slow hiker because you’ll normally find me on the side of the trail taking pictures of some awesome flower or bird. I’m also learning about food photography, I had no idea it was so challenging!
I’m married. I have a cat, two tomato frogs, and some fish.
Hey Jen, it’s “Lorith”….from Taste of Home, Night Owls….I love your blog! I had no idea that you are a park ranger! How neat!! I love gardening and wildlife, too. I am a Jeff Cty Master Gardener and was a Wildlife Master, too- but that program is kind of defunct there, now….no funds I suppose..
Anyway, just wanted to say hi!! Hope to talk to you again, soon….oh and those strawberry cups-the white chocolate ones….oh my, sounds delish!!
Hi Lori! It saddens me when I find out that these Wildlife/Wildflower type programs are shut down. Even if it’s in a backyard I feel like it’s experiencing a little bit of nature, especially for children! I sure hope that they bring it back. Perhaps my next blog will about wildlife around the area, I’m no “master” but it’s always exciting to see some! I bet you recognize all of these flowers
Hi Jen–it’s Scarlett in FL
Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your blog–you do a sensational job on pix and comments. I’m forwarding it to my sister-in-law in Charleston–they are avid bird watchers and think they can really appreciate all your research. I look forward to your new discoveries! Thank you for such a great blog! Scarlett
Wow! Thank you SO much for the compliments, Scarlett! It feels great when I know that people out there appreciate and learn from the things I write about! I hope that your sister-in-law can enjoy my blog as well, I wonder if they have similar birds out there in Charleston? Stay in tuned for new posts and thank you again for your kind compliments!
Hello Jen! I found your blog somehow, think I was googling RANGER
I am 37 and have been a K9 officer my entire life, but always regretted not becoming a ranger. I have wanted to be a ranger since i was 4! I just had a question for you, are you with colorado state parks? i would LOVE to pick your brain if you had time? i head up to Chatfield May4th and am excited but scared to death too!
Hey! Welcome!! I’m so glad you found my blog, I think the occupation of being a park ranger is unknown to most and I’m glad that my tiny little blog caught someone’s eye! I’ll be sending you an email about your trip to Chatfield!
